Vacuole and Airport Hangars

The vacuole can be compared to an airport hangar.

The vacuole is a membrane bound sac that can take any shape. It is present in animal cells as many small vacuoles and in plant cells as one large central vacuole. The main purpose of a vacuole is to store water and nutrients that are dissolved in the water. The sac-like structure enables it to do so.

Just as vacuoles act mainly as a storage facility holding water in cells, airport hangars act as a storage facility for airports. Similar to a vacuole, the airport not only stores planes to protect them from the weather when unused, it also stores extra parts, seats, food, sanitary equipment and many other items. They both store very important items that are needed by the cell/airport. Just like vacuoles in plant cells, airport hangars are the largest storage facility in an airport.
