Lysosomes and Cleaning Crew

Lysosomes are an organelle in the cell which can be compared to the cleaning crew of an airport.

Lysosomes are spherical bag like structures that are bound by a single layer membrane.  Lysosomes are a type of vesicle that contain digestive materials. Lysosomes main function is to kill any damaged or unwanted foreign material in the cell. It basically eliminates undesirable substances that are not useful to the cell anymore. If the cell is no longer needed, it commits suicide, which is known as apoptosis.

The cleaning crew of an airport is similar to the lysosome of a cell. Just like lysosomes kill unwanted foreign materials of the cell, the airport’s cleaning crew works to clean the airport and destroy any stains or rubbish. Both the lysosome and cleaning crew basically kill/remove any  unwanted or harmful substances from the cell/airport.

Therefore, an analogy of the cell’s lysosome would be the cleaning crew of an airport.
